These older versions seem to run in the 5.9 install environment (I am using Win 8.1), so maybe it will work in reverse. I keep Reaktor 5.6, 5.7, 5.8 and 5.9 files on the same machine with different names - each was saved as the next release came out. See if the current 5.8 installation innards works for 5.9. Rename the current Reaktor program file and VST DLLs to something else, then copy the Reaktor.exe from your other machine. Don't install, just copy onto a previous install. You could try an experiment - copy your Reaktor 5.9 files onto XP and give it a try. In return I offer my catalogue of music, which is well-respected and enjoyed.

Once again, if money means so little to you, I would accept a donation of 120 Euro towards a new operating system. (Which has stolen most of their customers and is likelier than ever to steal me.) How hard would it have been to send out an end-of-life announcement with Reaktor 5.8? How hard is it to make data files compatible. NI has put me in an impossible situation, and it is through their own bad management. Maybe for full releases, but not for every point release. I write this as a former programmer and project manager.

It is also unlikely that I would find the time to make the purchase, install, reinstall all my apps and work files, and prep for a gig in five days, three of which I am spending on other projects.Īlso, the lack of backwards compatibility has always been stupid and weak. As an artist I do not have that money (120 Euro). Without any announcement NI changed this and Reaktor 5.9 does not.Įven if I wanted to purchase an "upgrade" to Windows 8, it would cost as much again as my entire laptop and OS did. Reaktor 5.8 worked perfectly well on Windows XP. I don't listen to random announcements based on inciting fear. I rarely connect to the internet on my working performance computer, and when I do it is only to install updates from firms too lazy to permit other methods. That's why I am an artist in the first place. I don't like to live my life by other people's marketing strategies. But I also understand they are part of marketing only.
